When I was younger and a lot fitter, I had two once-in-a-lifetime holidays. The first, in 1973, was a four week overland camping trip that encompassed Scandinavia, Russia and Europe. We visited nine countries, six capital cities and had the now historical experience of crossing the Berlin wall through the famous Checkpoint Charlie. I'll be posting photos of this unforgettable trip soon and also photos of an even longer, equally exciting trip I took in 1977. This one was seven weeks and comprised a huge loop around the United States. I travelled through thirty-one states and saw so much that the trip has stayed in my heart ever since. I'll be posting photos of that trip too.

I am an Englishwoman in my fifties and have been married to my beloved husband Tom for sixteen years, soon to be seventeen. We were both Civil Servants and have both retired on medical grounds in recent years. Within the limits of our health issues and our other responsibilities to family and our spotted dog, we have a great life. My new mobility scooter has given me a new sense of freedom and enabled me to enjoy being out of doors again.

I love music, literature, art, the arts in general, theatre in particular. I also love my computer and writing Big Valley stories for fun. My work as an administrator of the Big Valley Writing Desk and Discussion Board is my main interest and I treasure the friends I have made on that happy site:)

My projects for the immediate future are to work on my health and fitness, to write more BV stories, to do some art history study and to read some of the many new books I have on hand. Time is my biggest problem, because when the sun is out, Tom, Barkley dalmatian and I want to be out and at play all day:)

image Tom took the pics and kept well away from my killer wheels. He has a point as I managed to run him down the first day I had it.

I always look forward to your comments and greatly appreciate them. You are always so positive! You also understand my attraction for Nick LOL if only I could find a real-life Nick, temper and all. BV had saved my sanity, truly. Teaching is hell nowadays with all the new laws, helicopter parents, and kids who control the house, and spending time with the Barkleys is my own personal therapy. And it's free! Thank you, thank you! willie

Thanks for your comment, my friend. Well, I don't have a noble stallion like yours, but it sure is kicking up a lot of dust. Now you know where I got my name :-)

Thank you, Kay. Our Dalmatian, Barkley was a stray rescued by the Dalmatian Society and he was three years old when we got him. He has brightened our lives so much!

LOVE that black stallion-rearing horsey pic! It always makes me excited when I see a horse do that.

I wanted to thank you for the work you do for the valley. You are one of those often unsung heroes. Although we don't say it enough (we should), thank you for the work you do. You are always one of the first to comment on a story, to offer an encouraging comments and just to be there.

    Thanks, Tc

Thank you so much TC, what a lovely compliment. I am so far behind with my valley reading and valley life in general, I am wondering how I am ever going to catch up! It is nice folks like you that make this place the special haven that it is. Thanks!

    Love, Linda
